Workshop Recap: Certificate in Medical Concierge at Seniora Johor Bahru

On 17-18 October 2026, we welcomed our latest group of participants to Seniora @ Pelangi Avenue, Taman Pelangi, Johor Bahru for the Certificate in Medical Concierge workshop, our collaboration with the Malaysian Medical Concierge Society (MMCS) and Malaysia’s first basic certificate course in medical concierge service.
Two days, 16 hours, and one clear goal: to turn people who care into people who are trained to care well in a hospital or clinic setting.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to our trainers and the MMCS team for making the weekend a success.
What Happened Over the Two Days
Our participants came from different backgrounds, including current caregivers and people looking to start meaningful work in healthcare support.
Day 1 focused on the foundations: the medical concierge industry in Malaysia, the roles and responsibilities of a caregiver, and the mental preparation the job demands.
Participants then moved into core skills, including understanding the physical and emotional changes that come with ageing, basic knowledge of common diseases, and how to communicate with seniors and manage relationships with them.
Day 2 got more hands-on. Participants practised handling emergencies, first aid, communicating with doctors and nurses, house visit techniques, and basic caregiving for movement and toilet assistance.
We also covered how government and private hospitals operate, how to keep proper records, and how to start as a freelancer. The weekend closed with a written examination and a skill and technique assessment.

Why This Skill Set Matters
A hospital visit can be overwhelming, especially for seniors, people with chronic conditions, and families who cannot take time off work. A trained medical concierge helps with:
Navigating registration, consultation, pharmacy, and payment
Communicating clearly with healthcare professionals
Staying calm and responding properly in an emergency
Giving patients the practical and emotional support they need
As our population ages, trained people who can do this well are needed more than ever.
